Dear Senator Ossoff,
The opening chapters of Genesis, B’reishit, have been part of your tradition well before they became part of mine. It is among the rare texts that a scientist, a Senator, a Jewish son of Georgia, and a Beninese-American award-winning scientist (www.Israel120.com) can all claim as their own. I write to you from that common foundation, not to convince you of anything you haven’t already inherited, but to share an insight I discovered while studying it mathematically.
My work is in mathematics and the physical sciences, built on my doctoral training at the University of Missouri. For twelve years, I have applied quantitative modeling to the creation sequence as written, and I have arrived at a timeline for the formation of the Earth, the Moon, and the Sun that tracks remarkably closely to the text’s own days. Using data collected over centuries by leading scientists and verified by NASA, I found that the Earth’s formation was completed in 2.82 days, the Moon’s in 3.32 days, and the Sun’s in 3.69 days, matching the Biblical account of creation, which states more than 3500 years ago that the Earth was completed on the 3rd day and the Moon and the Sun on the fourth. I emphasize that this is my finding and conviction, offered honestly, a claim that will advance science and faith debates. You’ve built a career valuing hard evidence and honest process over easy answers, and I hold myself to the same standard. I believe in my work, which is gaining national attention as the U.S. marks 250 years.
I recognize the imprint of the Genesis account on your civilization’s history, long before my own, and I do not bring you this to ask you to see it my way. I bring it because a text your ancestors carried out of Egypt and mine received later is still doing exactly what it always said it was doing. That struck me as worth sharing with a fellow Georgian who takes old, careful texts seriously, whether legal briefs or something older still.
Long before the Senate, you built a business exposing corruption, human trafficking, and war crimes for the world’s news organizations, evidence gathered patiently until it could not be argued with. In office, that instinct led your thirteen-month investigation into Georgia’s foster care system and your bipartisan work reforming oversight of Federal prisons.
